If you are worried that someone will
come into the room while you are visiting this web site or other web
pages, you can quickly
hide the site by closing the window. To avoid being left looking at a blank
screen – you could open another browser window to another website.
People who share your computer can find out which web pages you have visited
by looking in the 'History' menu of the web browser. The browser also stores
this information elsewhere on your computer. Anyone who knows where to look,
may be able to see which sites you have visited. You can usually delete this
information by following the steps below. However, please note that you cannot
be completely sure that this will always be successful. Also, you may sometimes
not have the opportunity to complete the deletion or you may forget to delete
it. Therefore, if you seriously fear someone will try to work out what web
sites you have visited, the safest thing to do may be to access confidential
websites from a safe place, such as a library, Internet cafe, or a friend's
house.
The steps described below for the deletion of information
on which web pages were visited, are for Microsoft Internet Explorer. Other
browser programs should allow you to delete this information in a similar way.
