24hr Domestic Violence Helpline: Freephone 0800 2000 247

Provides access to 24-hour emergency refuge accommodation, as well an information service, including safety planning and translation facilities. The helpline is run by a partnership of leading domestic violence agencies such as Women's Aid and Refuge.


Rights of Women (ROW)

ROW is a women's voluntary organisation informing, educating and empowering women on their legal rights.

Their advice line (+44 (0)20 7251 6577) is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 2-4pm and 7-9pm, and also on Friday, 12-2pm. You can speak to a qualified woman solicitor or barrister and get legal help for free on:
Divorce and relationship breakdown
Children and contact issues
Domestic violence.
Sexual violence
Discrimination
Lesbian parenting

You can find downloadable information sheets on their website on divorce, child contact orders, child residence orders, and parental responsibility. ROW also published a Domestic Violence DIY Injunction Handbook, which is translated into Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi and Urdu.

Provides emergency accommodation, advice, information and support services to abused women and their children. Also produces the UK Directory of Refuge and Helpline Services. For a list of refuges see http://www.womensaid.org.uk

Women’s Aid Federation of England (Women’s Aid) is the national domestic violence charity which co-ordinates and supports a network of over 270 local organisations in England, providing nearly 500 refuges, helplines, outreach services and advice centres for women and children experiencing domestic violence.
Women’s Aid’s work is built on 30 years of campaigning and working in partnership with national and local government, health, the justice system and other voluntary organisations to promote the need for an integrated
approach to prevent domestic violence

Women’s Aid produces a directory of all domestic violence refuge and helpline services across the UK. Briefings, information and help leaflets for women (available in 10 languages) including legal rights leaflets, are

To contact any local Women’s Aid organisation or other local refuge provider, or specialist refuge or advice service across the UK phone National or regional helplines for their numbers. Specialist refuges and/or advice services are available in some parts of the country for: African and African Caribbean women Asian women, Black women, Chinese women, Irish women, Muslim women.

Women's Domestic Violence Helpline

Offers telephone counselling, advice and information for women experiencing domestic violence. Information on welfare rights, finding accommodation and legal services. Referrals to refuges/safe houses, solicitors and other agencies who can offer support.
