-Safra social group iftar (breaking
of fast) on Saturday 22 October 2005.![]() |
We had a full house on Saturday with plenty of food and sweets. Home cooking
and treats bought in made it into a true banquet. A special thanks
for the use of a private home, the atmosphere was that much special
for it.
It was also great to meet some new faces and the consistant ones, a personal thanks to those of you who attended for making it a lovely evening. Without you the members, new and previous, I would have had to eat the lot on my own and would end up putting on 10 pounds ;-) |
Safra social
group at the London Malay Festival. Saturday 27 August![]() |
The first Malay festival to be held in London took place over the
Bank holiday weekend. As advertised by the organisers there was a
showing of Malaysia's 'rich and diverse culture'. Music from Malaysia,
Thailand and Sri Lanka, plus food, dance and arts and crafts.
A great experience in all, looking forward to next year's event! |

-Safra social group at Birmingham
Pride on Saturday,
28 May and Sunday 29 May, 2005. |
The British weather held out over Birmingham Pride weekend so the parade could
begin in the warm sulnlight rays. The parade wound its way through
Birmingham's Gay Village ending on Hurst Street to stalls and a funfair
of bright lights and music. Along the parade the Safra Project's
social group were met with thumbs up, smiles of approvals and well
wishes from observers. The venue for our meal that evening had to be in one of Birmingham's curry houses, no one left hungry! Some went on to Saathi Night, a South Asian Gay Club Night, in the heart of the Birmingham's Gay Scene, while others had an early night. The following day consisted of a street festival of stalls, a funfair, mini-stage arenas featuring live acts and DJs. After an evening meal at a delicious Iranian restaurant the Londoners headed back to the big smoke looking forward to meeting up with our Brummie friends again soon. |
-Safra
social group in Birmingham Sunday, 24 April,
2005![]() |
The social group went to Handsworth Park in Birmingham for a day trip to share in the celebrations of the birth of Sikhism with our Sikh sisters and brothers. Some of our family members and children joined us to make the two hour journey up to Birmingham from London where we met up with a few of our Birmingham members. It was truly a family day out. |
