Press/researchers

Information requests from the Press Media and Researchers
The Safra Project receives a large number of requests for information and interviews from the press, TV, radio and others. Please read the following:

- The Safra Project is an extremely small under resourced organisation with limited capacity to respond to all requests. Please ensure that you have looked at our website and in particular our publications to inform yourselves of the relevant information in advance of speaking to us.

- The Safra Project is not an organisation that believes all publicity is good publicity - indeed there are a number of factors that we consider before responding to media requests or researchers including:
1. the security of our organisation, it’s staff, volunteers and stakeholders which must be protected at all times and
2. the sensationalist nature in which the serious and complex issues that Safra Project works on tend to be portrayed in all parts of the media.

Please answer the following questions:
1) Why do want to write an article/make a programme on, or research Muslim LGBT people? Do you have any specific angle/points you want to make and why?
2) How can such an article/programme/research benefit the Safra Project and Muslim LGBT people in general?
3) What do you already know about Muslim LGBT people and the issues we face?
4) Which other organisations or people have you approached in relation to this interview/programme/research and why?

NB: Please note that if the Safra Project does agree to speak to a journalist we will expect to be able to see the finished programme or article before being aired or published and approve that it is a fair and accurate representation of what we have said. We would expect a guarantee to this effect in writing.

Requests for Interviews with Muslim LGBT people
The Safra Project cannot arrange for journalists or researchers to have interviews with Muslim LGBT people. We can only put a notice out on our members e-list. If you would like a notice to be put on the e-list please ensure that you have included your contact details as well as answering the questions stated above and email it to: info@safraproject.org
